Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders is heading to Europe on her first overseas trade mission since taking office this year. Sanders, a Republican, said she planned to meet with aerospace industry leaders at the Paris Air Show during the trip. She also planned to meet with American, British, French and German business executives to make the case for investing in Arkansas, Sanders said in a statement released Wednesday.

Cherokee Nation’s Principal Chief Chuck Hoskin Jr. won re-election to another four-year term as leader of the nation’s most populous tribe, according to results certified Monday by the tribe’s Election Commission. Hoskin, a 38-year-old attorney, won nearly 63% of the vote in the four-way race for chief, a position similar to the governor of a state. Hoskin’s running mate, Bryan Warner, won re-election to deputy chief with about 62% of the vote.

Legislation moving through the House would provide millions of dollars for research on how to incorporate artificial intelligence into drone technology in an effort to keep the U.S. ahead of China in this increasingly important component of national security. Washington leaders responded on Sunday to the bipartisan Fiscal Responsibility Act, a deal reached between House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., and President Biden to evade defaulting on the country’s financial obligations.
